Parador Málaga Golf is where golf in Andalusia began. Construction of the original 9-hole course started in 1925 under Harry Shapland Colt, the architect behind Wentworth, which makes it the oldest golf course in Andalusia. It was later extended to 18 holes by Tom Simpson, whose portfolio includes work at Turnberry, Muirfield and Ballybunion.
Today the course measures 6,173 metres (par 72) and keeps the character of a classic design by two of the great names of golf architecture. A Pitch & Putt course, a driving range, a putting green and an approach area complete the practice facilities.
Its location is hard to beat for visiting golfers. The course sits next to Málaga Airport and just 10 km from the city centre, with the Parador hotel, pool and restaurant on site. You can land in the morning and be on the first tee before lunch.
Club and buggy hire, lessons, clinics, a pro shop and changing rooms are all available. Average green fee: €88.
