Golfing in Spain is a great opportunity to visit its wine-growing regions and savour the excellence of its world-famous wines.

Up north, La Rioja is one of the leading wine producing areas, renowned by its red wines made primarily from the Tempranillo grape variety. Some of the stunning wineries built by prestigious architects are well worth the visit, including the famous Marqués de Riscal headquarters. This design by Frank Gehry combining titanium, steel and stone has become an iconic landmark amongst the vineyards. Also a must see is the state of the art Ysios winery by Santiago Calatrava in Álava.

Further south, in the northern Castilian plateau, the Ribera del Duero wines are highly appreciated for their full-bodied quality. Catalonia is well known for the strong personality of its Priorat reds and, above all, for being the home of Cava spakling wines in the Penedès area.
